Why Buy at Nurseries

Why should you buy from a nursery when you can buy more inexpensive plants from a big name retailer? Actually there are quite a few good reasons to buy from a reputable nursery or nurseries. One excellent reason is that nursery plants are healthier and better suited to your area because local nurseries often purchase their nursery plants from local growers. They may also grow their own plants. Locally grown plants are usually hardier too because they have already adapted to the soil and climate of your area and haven’t endured the rigors of being shipped in from another state.

Additionally, when you shop at a local nursery, the staff have the expert knowledge you need to make the correct choices for nursey plants for your garden. The staff will also know about contending with plant diseases and about the plants in general that they sell. They can give you expert gardening advice too about whether a certain plant can be placed in an area you’re thinking about or if another choice of location; or even plant, would be better.

Further, if you’re looking for a certain tree specimen; such as an oak, a nursery expert can help you to pick the plant and give explicit instructions on how to plant it. So plants bought from a local nursery will help to save you money, time and frustration in the long run. The nursery plants most likely will not only look better, but live longer too. Another thing is that the nutrients that the nurseries use when growing their plants make the plants more resistant to diseases and fungus. This resistance will carry on even after the nursery plant goes home with you.

Just because a plant is cheaper at a big store outlet doesn’t mean it’s better to buy there than at your local nursery.
