Gardening Tips

Gardening tips are always interesting to read about for every gardener. Also gardeners are always trying to grow better, bigger plants so sharing information on what worked and what didn’t with gardening tips is one way to do this. So below are some tips for you.

Compost: When planting a new bed add lots of compost, amend the soil and double dig so that your soil will give you the best plants it can. Also, if you have compost stored in a pile, remember to cover it with a tarp so that the nutrients aren’t leached out. Another garden tip to remember is that in a growing season that’s longer a garden will need more compost added because the plants will require more organic matter and nutrients to continue growing.

Watering: If you water in the morning, it will help to prevent fungal diseases and powdery mildew which can spread with high humidly. Too, when watering your plants, don’t water shallowly. This will make the roots of the plant come closer to the surface making them less hardy. Water thoroughly and deeply instead. Plus; when your seedlings sprout keep them watered. If they dry out, they will wither up and die. In addition, new seedlings may need to be gently watered once or twice a day to keep them healthy and damp.

Earthworms: The more earthworms you have, the better your garden will grow. This is because earthworms leave behind worm castings, adding fertility to the soil and also will increase air space in the soil. This makes for healthy soil, and healthy soil will enable your plants to resist both diseases and pests. This in turn reduces the need for you to add harmful pesticides. In addition to a vibrant earthworm population, encourage healthy microbes and soil microorganisms to thrive in your garden.
